Dear NYEMC participant & NYC historical performance artist/ensemble/presenter at large,

We are very pleased to announce the recipients of Early Music Foundation’s re-grant program with funds generously provided by the West Harlem Local Development Corporation. Venue rental subsidy will go to select ensembles performing in West Harlem District 9 during the October, NYEM-Celebration. These five applicants were chosen to represent the major historical performance periods (in the following chronological order):

Presenter: Music Before 1800
Venue: Corpus Christi Church, West 121st Street
Repertoire: medieval Polish by guest Polish ensemble “Peregrina”
Date: October 6.
*with travel support provided by the Polish Cultural Institute New York
 
Ensemble: Galileo’s Daughters
Venue: Church of Notre Dame, 114th Street & Morningside Drive
Repertoire: Renaissance - Copernicus (Polish astronomer) and his time
Date: October 18
 
Ensemble: Phoenix Tail
Venue: Riverside Church - Christ Chapel, 122nd Street & Riverside Drive
Repertoire: Polish, 17th-century baroque
Date: October 5
 
Ensemble: Rebel
Venue: Broadway Presbyterian Church, 114th Street & Broadway
Repertoire: 18th-century baroque featuring Telemann’s “Concerto Polonaise”
Date: October 14.
 
Ensemble: Early Music New York
Venue: Cathedral of St. John the Divine, 112th Street & Amsterdam Avenue
Repertoire: classical orchestra works by Polish/Lithuanian composers
Date: October 12

We were heartened by the enthusiastic response to this subsidy program and regret not being able to assist more of the several ensembles that inquired.

REMINDER: Entries for “New York Early Music Celebration 2013” inclusion (via NYEM-Calendar self-posting) will be accepted through this month with a deadline of June 30. (Any late postings may be incorporated at the discretion of the NYEMC marketing/promotion team.) Details regarding submission of pertinent promotional information will be forthcoming

The Celebration will take place from October 4 through October 20. However, if there are sufficient Calendar postings in the following week, October 21-27, the Celebration period might be extended. Please note: it is not a requirement to program Polish or Polish-related repertoire for Celebration inclusion!
